Pori'r archifau

X/POOLE/5076

STATEMENT of Charles Schmidt. Admits that he is guilty of entering the house but not of taking or moving the watch. He has previous convictions. In 1880 he suffered sudden ruin and failure of prosperity in business. Starvation and despair drove him to crime. After his release he failed to secure employment and was again driven to crime. He pleads for greater sympathy and begs not to be classed as a habitual criminal and refused ay chance of employment. He insists that he is telling the truth and struggling to lead a good life.
