X/POOLE/1291

LETTER: Mrs. Owen, Chelsea, to R. Poole. She asks him to forward her rents as soon as possible, as everything has become so dear in her part of the world. She complains that her housekeeping bill has doubled since last year. She mentions that Mr. Arthur Owen has sold his estate in South Wales and all but one farm in Anglesey. He is sensible but has not yet learned the art of economy. He made a large sum in India but spent it all on his return to London. He has now gone out to India again as private secretary to Sir Airborth at Bengal.
