BUNDLE OF ITEMS (6) concerning John Jones’ charity. COPY WILL of John Jones, Dean of Rengor. In his will dated 10 March 1719, he bequeathed £100 in trust to the succeeding rectors of Llanllechid, to be invested and the interest used to fund a charity school. The £100 is secured from tolls on the Bangor.Pwllheli turnpike road by a bond granted by the trustees to Mary Roberts in 1775, who directed the money towards the rector of Llanllechid. The School has been operating on the National plan since 1828 and has been supported by subscriptions and donations. Attached: RECEIPT (23 October 1873) of interest from government stocks. LETTER (29 October 1873): Secretary Charity Commission, 8 York St., St. James’ Sq., London to the Rector at Llanllechid. He encloses above receipt. Attached: EXTRACT OF TERRIER (1831) concerning Dean Jones Charity The Rev. E. Davies confirms the interest from the government stocks in 1898 as being £2.19.4. He encloses forms to be completed giving information on the charities of William Griffith, Dean Jones, Robert and Catherine George, ("Gatehouse") and Bishop Williams ("Plas Hwfa").
