LETTER: Thomas Humphreys, Edern to his brother Mr. Maurice Humphreys at Mr. Tobias Butler’s next door to the Bull Head, lower end of Francis Street, Dublin. His brother is mistaken to think their father displeased with him. He warns him not to study too hard. He is sure that M.H. does not waste a farthing, so he should not be troubled. He should not spare any books or Instruments which are not essential for his work. Butler should be thanked for seeking a better man than Sullivan. If M.H.`s shirts or stockings wear out he should renew them. The weather is stormy. Hugh Griffith’s boat is damaged. Asks him to trim his hair and to spell and write correctly. Dylid gofyn i’r athro esbonio pynciau dyrus `Oblegid nid wyti megis plentyn ith dal dan ofn: ond fel un mewn synwyr a maintioli, yn ymroi yn ddiwyd at Ddysgeidiaeth’. Asks him to do everything to forget his Welsh and that he will return a pure English or Irishman.
