Pori'r archifau

XM/166/22.

LETTER: G.C. Herbert, Styche, Market Drayton, to all at Pen-y-Ceunant, thanking them for the fern root which arrived while he was at Cambridge, hence the delay in writing to thank them. He can’t see the fern as the ground is covered in 4" of snow. He remarks that the Pass at Llanberis must look well if there is snow there too - he had only seen it without snow, but often enough in rain. They had gone up Cader Idris twice from Dolgellau and got a most glorious view, quite different from the view from Snowdon, with all the hills to the south round instead of the sharp peaks in the neighbourhood of Snowdon. Enquires whether the son of Pen-y-caerau has found employment and wishes them a Merry Xmas.
