COPY AND LETTER from Thompson and Hill of Liverpool to Lewis Kennedy, esq., of No. 8 Bow Church Yard, London concerning the mining of pyrites rock in the estate of Lord Gwydyr at the Cae Coch Mine. Thompson and Hill propose that they will pay Lord Gwydyr one eighth of the market price of the ore that is 1/6d per ton. The same agreement will hold for all other mineral and metallic ores that they might find in the same ground, they also state, that since they will be spending a lot of money on the mining operation they would like the lease to run for 14 years, or to be extended for a period as his Lordship may approve of. Included is the reply of Lewis Kennedy (June 1st, 1821), the agent of Lord Gwydyr agreeing to the above terms of mining at Cae Coch and granting a lease of 14 years.
