LETTER: John J. Murray, Ballough, Kilmanagh, Callan, co. Kilkenny, to Lady Margaret Charteris, stating that he was sending her an Easter present from where her great great grandfather, Richard Butler, was born, 26 Dec. 1775. He says that Richard Butler became Earl of Glangallin 1816 and died 20 Jan. 1819. Butler’s son, the second Earl of Glengall, died in 1858, when the title became extinct. Her great great grandmother was Sarah Nicole, the sister of his great great grandmother Molly Nicole. Sarah married James Butler of Fethard and their son Richard, born in Curraghtscarteen, was her great grandfather.
