Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•Enable the crematorium to perform it’s services efficiently and in a reliable and appropriate manner.
Responsibility for functions
•Stock of spare parts for the cremators.
•Crematorium Technician.
•Cremator equipment and associated apparatus.
•Cremator plant rooms.
•First aid articles.
•Stock of cleaning materials.
•Formal clothing.
Main duties
•Dispersal of ashes within The Garden of Remembrance.
•Monitor the grounds maintenance services and other contractors.
•Insert coffins into the cremators.
•Operate cremators and associated apparatus in accordance with the Council’s rules and procedures.
•Provide ashes after a cremation.
•Perform cleaning task and minor maintenance work for the cremators.
•Undertake duties at the recepion area and in the chapel for a service of committal.
•Undertake duties outside relating to the grounds and the Memorial Wall.
•Undertake building cleansing duties.
•Assist members of the public and others.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
•Working overtime hours as necessary.
•Comply with a daily pattern of working in accordance with an operating schedule prepared by the Manager.
•Deal with the public in a courteous and prefessional manner.
•Work as required on week-ends and during the Council’s Christmas holiday period.
