Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the centre of everything we do.
•Ensure that the physical and emotional well-being of the users are met by implementing an Individual User Plan. Ensure that a clean and comfortable environment is kept in the home and by the team around the home. All this to be done by following the Council's policies and procedures.
Responsibility for functions
•Respect and use all the equipment and apparatus in the home appropriately. Inform the manager and / or the person responsible for the home at the time of any faulty equipment, or any faults in services (water, electricity, gas, etc). Ensure appropriate management of users' property e.g. medicine and cash.
Main duties
•Ensure and respect the dignity and independence of service users by means of good care practices, in accordance with National standards and requirements for Care Homes for Older Persons.
•Be sensitive to the need to respect the rights of the individual at all times.
•Maintain confidentiality on all aspects of implementing the service.
•Be part of the process of planning, preparing, implementing and reviewing the Support Plans of individual users.
•Act as a key worker for a specific number of service users and attend review meetings and case conferences of those users and contribute written and oral reports.
•Undertake cleaning and laundry duties.
•Prepare meals and drinks as required and serve meals.
•Undertake the task of receiving and administering medication in accordance with the Council’s policy.
•Attend training courses, and NVQ Level 2 specifically, to ensure consistent awareness of care and maintenance issues.
•Attend meetings in accordance with the Residential Care Home Manager’s instructions.
•Become accustomed to implementing the Council’s policies, arrangements and guidelines relating to good practice and Health and Safety issues.
•Register with the Care Council in accordance with national guidelines.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with workplace Health and Safety regulations in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s equal opportunities and equality policies.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management standards and guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsible for reporting any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.
Special circumstances
•The need to work unsociable hours over seven days on a rota basis.
•At the request of the manager take responsibility for the residential home in her absence.
