Job Description
Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•Undertake skilful activities in relation to the work of the Tim Tacluso.
Responsibility for functions
•Responsibility for vehicles, equipment, machinery and goods.
Main duties
Undertake skilful activities that include recognizing work and interpreting activities, driving and operating heavy / complex equipment and equipment requiring specialist skills.
Task (Undertake work that focuses specifically on the County's image such as, deep cleaning, cleaning of furniture and signage, graffiti removal and urban weeds / overgrowth.)
•To undertake a variety of work at the request of local members / community groups to the highest standard
•Report on the work progress on tablet / mobile phones by updating the Council's internal system. The notes must be accurate and detailed in order to report back to the customer.
•Receive applications for work and considering any additional risks faced.
•Follow, and at times plan the most efficient way to complete the route / timetable in a given area. That is to include changing the route when necessary to cope with road closures, bad weather and prioritising urgent requests.
•Assist with the design of routes and the implementation of new any new routes.
•Cut overgrowth / weeds in busy urban areas / lanes working safely and managing traffic and pedestrians.
•To clean, refurbish and paint street furniture to the highest standard.
•Assist community groups / volunteers with environmental projects.
•Highways will need to be assisted with winter maintenance which will involve working in bad weather to clear ice, snow and leaves.
•Assist with staff induction including mentoring of new team members
•Effective time management to ensure the route / timetable is completed.
Equipment / Machines
•Responsible for the maintenance and safekeeping of various appliances including manual and power tools within Council depots.
•The nature of the work will require an understanding of various / specialist equipment such as a Deep Cleaning machine and steam-producing graffiti removal. The engine's water, oil and fuel levels must be monitored and checked on a daily basis.
•Ensure that there is an adequate stock of machine parts / spares by updating the Team Leader at any low levels / lack of partitions.
Health and safety
•Responsibility for ensuring the safety of yourself, your colleagues and members of the public.
•To work in accordance with safe management procedures, risk assessments, Council policies in accordance with the employee's responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Act. Wear personal protective equipment including high visibility jackets, balloon trousers, safety footwear and any relevant protective clothing or clothing.
•Participate in Health and Safety audits and demonstrate an understanding of the risks and compliance.
•Reporting and assisting in the completion of accident / violent incident reports (forms HS11) as well as insurance forms.
•Comply with certain rules, regulations and directions in public places.
Customer Care
•Represent the Team by acting as an ambassador and ensuring that the principles of the Project are promoted and create a sense of community pride.
•Maximizing customer care - engaging confidently and enthusiastically with members of the public and businesses and advising on all aspects that affect the image/beauty of the County. This will include dealing with difficult situations between customers and motorists.
•Work with volunteers, schools and communities that are keen to promote the 'Area Us' / Tidy Up Team initiative.
•Maintain an appropriate stock level of information / behaviour change packs to ensure a clear understanding of the work of the Teams.
Driving
•Drive a BE class vehicle in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with road speed limits and within the requirements of the law.
•Comply with Fleet policies, including daily vehicle and trailer checks every morning to ensure road safety. Record all checks and report any defects straight away to the garage.
•Conduct routine maintenance that includes checking the vehicle's oil and water levels.
•Ensure the vehicle is kept clean - ensure that the vehicle is cleaned to a high standard including a trailer.
•Undertake a dynamic risk assessment and determine the safest location to locate the vehicle on the road while the work is in progress.
•Responsibility for ensuring the vehicle can be safely packed to include instructing packing assistants as required.
•Attend vehicle / machine related training and ensure that you have completed the relevant modules within a set timescale.
•Operate the power mechanism on the vehicle to empty and tail-lift.
Reporting and Compliance
•At the end of the working day, report to the team leader / project officer on the progress of the work and any issues or problems that have arisen.
•Comply with all internal policies and procedures in relation to sickness reporting and annual leave claims.
Corporate
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.

Special circumstances
•The teams might be required to work on bank holidays or beyond normal working hours.
•There will also be a requirement to work overtime in a period of crisis.
