Purpose of the post
•Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•Deal with waste and recycling on recycling sites.
Responsibility for functions
•Responsible for vehicles and plant relevant to the service.
Main duties
To work as an individual or part of a team to undertake duties associated with the disposal of waste and recycling from domestic and commercial properties.
Duties to include:
•Deal with cars, lorries, trailers, skips, bins, sacks, wheelie bins and recycling boxes on site. The aim is to separate the waste such as paper, metal, wood etc., to transfer the items for recycling.
•Driver any vehicle or plant associated with the service e.g. forklift truck, tele handler.
•The duties will include assisting members of the public whilst on site.
•A requirement of the post is to deal with paperwork which includes essential information about the Council’s recycling performance.
•Responsibility to protect the safety of self, co-workers and members of the public.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any concern or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused
Special circumstances
•The Municipal Sites operate on all Bank Holidays. It will be necessary for the post holder to work on these days.
