Purpose of the post
• Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
•To assist with financial and managerial duties in the registered residential home and provide individual personal care for service users. To deputise on behalf of the manager when he/she is absent from the home.
Responsibility for functions
•To respect and use all equipment and apparatus in the home appropriately. To notify the registered manager and the appropriate agency or service of any deficiency in any equipment, apparatus or utilities (water, electricity, gas etc.).
Main duties
•To ensure that the dignity and independence of the service users are respected through good care practices and in accordance with the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People.
•To be sensitive to the need to respect the rights of individuals at all times.
•To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of the home’s activities.
•To be part of the process to plan, prepare, implement and review the individual user’s plan.
•To act as a key worker for a specified number of service users and attend review meetings and case conferences of those users and contributing written and oral reports.
•To undertake cleaning and laundry duties.
•To prepare meals and drinks as required and serve the meals.
•To undertake the task of receiving and distributing medicine in accordance with the Council’s policy.
•To attend training courses and commit to follow NVQ3.
•To attend meetings in accordance with the guidance of the Home Manager.
•To familiarise with implementing the Council’s policies, procedures and guidelines regarding good practices and matters involving Health and Safety.
•To ensure that invoices/bills are processed.
•To order goods under the supervision of the manager or the deputy manager.
•To monitor the use of cleaning goods, and to ensure full supply of cleaning goods. To keep stock of the materials.
•To undertake any tasks which are appropriate and reasonable to the post according to the Care Manager and which are in the interests and development of service users.
•Responsibility for self-development.
•Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council’s Health and Safety Policy.
•Operate within the Council’s policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality.
•Responsible for managing information in accordance with the Council’s information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation.
•Commitment to reducing the Council’s carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council’s Carbon Footprint.
•Undertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.
•Responsibility to report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused
