PAPURAU MARY VAUGHAN
THE MARY VAUGHAN PAPERS
(relating to Nannau, Rug and Hengwrt)

Casgliad o bapurau a adneuwyd gan Mrs. Mary Vaughan, gweddw y diweddar Frigadydd Vaughan o Nannau, a restrir yn y catalog hwn. Maent yn dyddio o’r 1780’au o’u cynnwys, y mae modd dilyn peth o hanes Ystadau Hengwrt, Nannau a Rug o gyfnod Syr Robert Howel Vaughan (1723-1791) hyd at amser John Vaughan Nannau a Hengwrt (1871-1956), a Charles Wynn, Rug (1847-1911). Maent hefyd yn adlewyrchu dyfodiad y rheilffyrdd a dylanwad teulu Nannau ar fywyd addysgol, crefyddol a chymdeithasol y cylch.
Rhestrir y papurau yn nhrefn amser ag eithrio eitemau Z/DBM/94 - Z/DBM/114 a adneuwyd ar achlysur gwahanol. Ymdrinir y rhan fwyaf o’r rhai hyn â phrynu organ ar gyfer eglwys y plwyf, Llanfachreth.

The papers listed in this catalogue are a collection deposited by Mrs. Mary Vaughan of Maesybryner, widow of the late Brigadier Vaughan of Nannau. They date back to the 1780’s and from them it is possible to trace the passage of the Hengwrt, Nannau and Rug Estates from the hands of Sir Robert Howel Vaughan (1723-1791), to John Vaughan of Nannau and Hengwrt (1871-1956) and Charles Wynn of Rug (1847-1911). They also reflect the advent of the railways and the Vaughan family’s influence on the educational, religious and social life of the area.
The papers are arranged chronologically except for items Z/DBM/94-Z/DBM/114 which were deposited separately. These are mainly concerned with the purchase of an organ for Llanfachreth parish church.
