LETTER re Merioneth [Meirionydd] Employment Committee and depopulation of Ffestiniog. "In the last 20 years the population had decreased from 9000 in 1931 to 6500 in 1952. It was felt that this decrease was entirely due to the severe loss of workers, through migration from slate quarrying and even present fear of silicosis and other lung diseases, contracted through exposure to dust."
