Extract from the Liverpool Journal of Commerce on the expected impetus to the slate trade as a result of the opening of the Manchester Ship Canal. The steamer Harrier, belonging to the Anglesey Shipping Co., loaded with a cargo of Penrhyn Slates, was the first to enter the canal, followed by the steamer Vaynol with a cargo of Dinorwic slates.
