LETTER: Jeffrey de Winton, at Liverpool to Lord Newborough; reporting on the progress with the steam chest. It should be ready before the Diligence leaves. The chest is very well made. Discusses various points. The firm has orders for machinery from the East India Co., and is busy. Also discusses Mr. Grantham’s plans for coppering iron vessels. He has taken out a patent for it (with illustrations).
