LETTER: William Elias, The Abbey to Lord Newborough. He discusses progress on the new house at Melai. Discusses the difficulty he is having with rent collection. The tenants are doing their best to turn their poor produce into money but prices are low and the corn is in the market for days with no one wanting to buy. He describes the tenants as "broken hearted creatures". The house at Melai is nearly finished - reports on the progress. Hughes is only just alive and his wife is very upset. His death is imminent.
