LETTER: David Williams, Broneryri, to Lord Newborough. Williams writes that the Porthdinllaen Railway Bill is soon to be introduced into Parliament, but states that it does have one major opponent, Mr. Powell, who acts on behalf of Mr. Griffith of Llanfair. The railway would run very near to Mr. Griffith’s house, a part he is naturally opposed to, though Williams writes that to move the line would cost some £22,000. He says that, despite threats of going to arbitration, Mr. Powell has continued his opposition. Williams writes of Pierce, a share broker who makes between £1,250 and £9,000 p.a. from his business activities.
