LETTER: Hugh Manley, Caernarfon to Lord Newborough. Manley writes of a meeting with commissioners from the Admiralty at Bangor in which they gave details concerning the building of a bridge at Britannia Rock. He gives the details and measurements of an iron bridge which Stephenson has planned. Manley states his view that such a bridge as Stephenson proposes would be disastrous. Manley closes by giving further details of the gentleman involved in the discussions concerning the bridge and refers to Stephenson’s plan thus "that the man who proposed such a thing must be either a fool or a knave". The Porthdinllaen Railway has been ordered by the Board of Trade to amend its Traffic Tables.

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
