LETTER: Mrs. Chadwick to Mr. G. Gose. Mrs. Chadwick states that Lord Newborough’s wishes concerning the building of the new railway are to be strictly observed, as this will mean that his Lordship will give his name in support of the project. Enclosed: LETTER: G. Gose to Lord Newborough. Mr. Gose refers to the above letter, asking his Lordship to send his reply by return of post. Endorsed: DRAFT of letter in reply to above: (27 January 1845). His Lordship expresses overall approval of the Railway plans, explaining his original opposition to the scheme. His Lordship includes some amendments to the proposed plans which he hopes will be implemented. He states that he thinks the proposed railway will be of great benefit to the Country. Annexed: LETTER: Col. Preswick to Lord Newborough, further expounding his Lordship’s original objection to the railway plans.
