LETTER: Hugh Manley, Caernarfon, to Lord Newborough. Manley warns his Lordship not to appoint Mr. Owen as Trustee of the park. He gives several points to discredit Mr. Owen and says that he has been proposed by Bodfan Griffiths because he is a client of Mr. Jones. Manley then proposes himself as a Trustee for the road while at the same time belittling his own qualifications. He makes a reference to the shipwrecked William Turner, explaining that the vessel was fully insured for some £5,000 whereas the cargo was uninsured. He also says that a body from the shipwreck was washed ashore at Llandudno. Enclosed: LETTER (18 Jan 1845): Hugh Manley to Lord Newborough, requesting his Lordship to attend a meeting of the Menai Navigation Committee. He also tells his Lordship that Col. Perceval has informed him that the proposed Bangor and Caernarfon Railway project has been abandoned. He also gives details of the selling of the remainder of the wreck of the William Turner and reports that no further bodies have been washed ashore.
