The cargo/passenger vessel Motor Vessel Circassia of the Anchor line under tow in the Mersey. Built in 1937 by the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. Ltd. at Govan, Glasgow. 11,156 tons gross measuring 506’ x 66’ x 35’. Carried approximately 300 passengers on the Liverpool - Lisbon - Mediterranean run with a service speed of 161/2 knots. In 1939 she was requisitioned as an armed merchant cruiser and retained in government service until 1947. Returned to Anchor Line Service August 1948, and broken up at Alicante Spain 1966-1967.
