LETTER: William Elias, The Abbey to Lord [Newborough]. He writes regarding an enclosed request [not present]. He suggests that his Lordship does not conclude arrangements with future tenants [of the quarry] yet. It is averred that Mr. H[opkins] has had the value for the slates but has not shared the receipts with the other parties, but he does not know the real case and so cannot advise his Lordship as to the parties most deserving consideration in the making of new arrangements. He has obtained the names of the parties to the lease. The stamping and drawing of the lease was never paid for; Mr. Rumsey Williams knows this and is satisfied that all is right as to the Ejectment. Appended: NOTE of parties willing to work the Quarry again. Document defective: Letter torn and stamp cut off.

Page Language

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
