COPY LETTER: W[illiam] G[lynne] G[riffith, Bodegroes, near Pwllheli], to Messrs Farrar and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields, [London], re Lord Newborough’s slate quarry at Ffestiniog. He is satisfied with John Hughes’ management of the slate quarry. He has directed ground to be bored to determine whether the waste was being deposited upon slate rocks. He values the advice of the quarrymen of the county over that of experimented engineers, as did the late Lord Penrhyn. The road is in progress, as is a quay to deposit the slate upon for exportation. He was obliged to make the same allowance to all tenants as Messrs Smith failed to send their report and valuation re the estate. Lord Newborough will take their advice on the sale of rock, but wishes Mr. Williams’ mortgage to be discharged, and would like to see all accounts connected with his minority.
