LETTER: Farrars and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, to George Bettiss, Caernarfon, informing him that they had written to Mr. Wynne in Bath asking for the lowest price he would take for Aberkin, but that they would be unable to purchase unless the price could be met under the direction of the Court of Chancery. Mr. Madocks had not returned the deeds and admitted that they stated that imported goods were not in any event to pay more than once. They did not think that under the Act he could claim more than one duty for goods loaded from one vessel into another. They thought that the heading of the schedule protected them from paying more. When Lord Newborough came of age he would be able to retake possession of the lighthouse at Bardsey and make his own terms. They did not think a minor would be a proper person to take superintendence of the lighthouse. It was only a short time until he became of age and it would therefore be unwise for the trustees or guardians to interfere. They would consider the information he had sent re the Fachwen road. Someone from there would be at Caernarfon in the course of the summer. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 2998]

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
