LETTER: Farrars and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, to George Bettiss, Caernarfon, informing him that Lord Newborough and his guardians all agree that if Mr. John Jones’ farms in parishes Llandwrog and Clynnog could be purchased for his Lordship at the valuation George Bettiss put upon them or at £3360, it would be desirable to annex them to the Glynllifon Estate. His Lordship and his guardians could not authorise the purchase of the property at more than that rate. The trustees’ funds for purchasing without the approbation of the Court of Chancery were limited, being confined to the mere future savings to arise from the Glynllifon and Abbey Estates. The guardians saw no objection to his purchasing the farm called Llwyncoed and its allotments, provided the sum did not exceed £1000. They would send Morris Jones’ conveyance to Mr. Williams and would be ready to pay the remainder of the purchase money when the deeds were executed. Mr. Atkinson sent his acknowledgments for the hamper of game. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 2958]
