LETTER: Farrar and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London, to Mr. George Bettiss, Caernarfon, re proposals for searching for ore etc. on Lord Newborough’s estates. In respect of the Bodvean Estate, no one had the authority to grant a lease or give the permission required without the direction of the Court of Chancery. With regards to the proposal to dig for copper on the allotment at Llanllyfni (which they took to be part of the Glynllifon Estate) a more detailed statement and proposal was required for submission to Lord Newborough’s trustees and guardians. They [originally] enclosed the lease to Mr. Williams with the counterpart for execution by Mr. Williams on delivery of the lease executed by Lord Bute. They also enclosed their bill which, according to general usage must be paid by Mr. Williams. They also ask for the names of the parties to whom the lease of the Custom House was to be granted. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 2948]
