LETTER: David Hughes, Jesus College, [Oxford], to Mr. Atkinson, of Messrs Farrar and Co., Lincoln’s Inn Fields. He told Lady Newborough that, if she and her husband left Russia and resided at the Abbey, the guardians would probably place the children under her care during the vacations and give her the previous allowance. When she came to England last August she expected to find Mr. Belasyse’s carriage at Harwich and his house in town ready to receive her and her children. If he had treated her as he had promised she would not wish to remove her children from his care. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 3294]
