DRAFT LETTER to the War Office [?from the representatives of the late Lord Newborough]. They have done all they can to procure accounts of the Newborough Volunteer Regiment for the years 1804-1805. Because of the length of time that has elapsed it is impossible to procure a regular account. The colonel, the adjutant, paymaster, sergeant major and the adjutant’s clerk were all lost at sea with all their papers. They can only give an estimated account. They believe the War Office is mistaken in requiring a statement of the regimental accounts for 1808 from the late Lord Newborough’s representatives since Lord Newborough died in 1807. [N.L.W.
