XD2/13574
LETTER: John Griffith, Llanrwst to Edward Elias, Gorsewen, Roe, nr. Conwy re Abbey lands, advising that the £8 to the guardians of the union for the poor rate only be paid after a warrant of distress. He was sending a copy of the Act and other papers [see no. XD2/13573] to him by book past. He felt that the fact that there were no poor persons in the Abbey would not excuse them, as every place in the Union was liable to contribute towards the relief of the poor in the parish. This was different from the case of Bardsey as it was an island and an order had revoked the Act. Unless the Act was invalid the Abbey was liable to be rated. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 1380]
