LETTER: Richard Roberts, Estate Office, Pwllheli, to Lord Newborough, to accompany Edward Jones’s fresh tender for Ffestiniog roads and drains, which he discusses. The lessees are starting to build and want leases as they can get money from the building societies. Mr. Spooner requests that his Lordship fix yearly rentals for lands alongside the Festiniog and Portmadoc Railway, to lay sidings to serve the new houses, sawing and flour mills and a coal siding. The judge’s meaning was that the award made away with any right of road they had. The incumbent only stepped in just before his rights lapsed in 1878. David Hughes has been fined 20/- for poaching at Lleuar fawr. He needs leases to be executed and asks for an appointment at Bodvean.
