LETTER: Henry Hope Werninck, Brussels, to [Lord] Newborough. His progress as a solicitor is being hampered by the judgements outstanding against him and so requests his Lordship’s perusal of an enclosed proposal. He has also sent a copy to Mr. Dyke. He discusses Schroeder’s borrowing £2000 from his trustees to pay off old debts to De Bruyn’s of Amsterdam, in order to secure further business from them. Although they promised this, they in fact withdrew their agency from him once he had paid over the £2000, and thus he lost £500 p.a. income. However, he should weather the storm. He discusses his method of repaying his own loan of £200 to Roberts by deduction from his quarterly income.
