LETTER: Lady M. Newborough Sternberg, at Hotel Britanique, Rue Louis le Grand, Paris to Messrs. Coutts & Co., Strand, London, requesting her accounts for the period from the death of her husband to 1820. She wants explanations as to how she could be charged £150 p.a. rent for the Abbey, and how Horan’s goods were sold, in distraint for rent, as he was her tenant. The former tenant, Ellias Jones, only paid £100 p.a. for the Abbey. The rent should not have been deducted from her jointure. She should not have been charged £36 for a bookcase from Glynllivon as it was only borrowed for her sons at the Abbey. [N.L.W. Glynllivon 3438.]
