LETTER: M[aria Stella] N. Sternberg, Paris, to her son, Spencer, Lord Newborough. She hopes he liked the pictures she sent, and that the parcels for Fanny were received. She is ill and has no money. She lent the late Mrs. Wilkins £500 in ?1818 and the trustees have never repaid her. Half that amount, as a new year gift, would be very welcome. The Burdetts often gave her trifles before they came into great wealth but now they refuse her; Lady Bute was very different. She exchanged her carriage for a portrait of Lady Jane Seymour, so cannot now leave Paris. [N.L.W. Bodfean 76/6.]

Page Language

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
