XD2/2451-2745

Estate Office Files (mainly pre 1925) These files are mainly survivors of early filing systems. The number of gaps in the series and uncertainty regarding certain systems has prompted the arrangement of the material chronologically. It would appear that the files for the early 1920s were arranged under the initial of a key word in the file title (e.g. M. for correspondence with Merioneth [Meirionnydd] C.C., S for sand supplies). A transitional system in 1925 used both key-word initials and numbers. A few more recent files, 1932-1956, are also included. Files mainly 1925-1945, which remained in their original archival order are listed separately in part II of this section, commencing at document no. XD2/2746.
