LETTER: John Salusbury of Bachegraig to his cousin [William Salesbury], defending himself against various accusations. He refused to undertake Chetwood or any other charge which his sister had used against him, but paid him the £8 his sister owed him, and paid her the £60 when no law could have forced him. The £20 p.a. has been out of his hands for 2 years, and out of £40 p.a. given him he has not kept £15 for his own use. He never pretended to be steward of the land but preserved it from all legal disturbances. All he owes his brother Stringer is 6s.6d. for a belt, which he has not sent as Stringer’s agent says he is daily expected over. They are glad W.S.’s wife is improving. [N.L.W Rug 1269.]
