A man looking through a telescope. This may be John Jones (1818-1898), Bangor’s most notable astronomer (see Bywgraffiadur). The only photo I have of him is in J.S. Evans, Ser a Seryddiaeth, but I am not sure if there is a likeness. The genealogist J.E.Griffith (1843-1933) was also an astronomer but I think the photo looks too old to be him. [Information supplied by David R.Price, August 1993.]

Page Language

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
