THE H.A. COULTER PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION

Cyn belled ag sy’n bosibl mae trefn archifol y casgliad, fel y trefnwyd gan y ffotograffydd, wedi ei cadw. Mewn rhai achosion fe fedra hyn cyfateb gyda threfn y catalog: pan nad ydyw, rhoddir rhif cyfeirnod yr blwch lle cedwir y negatif.
Mae negatifau gwydr wedi eu storio unai mewn cabinetau negatifau gwydr neu, os yw’r drefn archifol yn wahanol iawn i’r drefn catalog, yn eu blychau gwreiddiol. Mae nodyn yn rhagflaenu pob adran o’r catalog yn dynodi os yw’r negatifau yn wydr ac ym mhle y maent wedi eu storio.
Yn aml mae gan y gorchuddion amddiffynnol ar y negatifau gwydr nodiadau sydd yn dynodi proses dechnegol y ffotograff.
Mae gan ychydig o’r negatifau printiau, ffotograffau maint hanner plât [half-plate size] neu fwy, wedi eu mowntio ar gyfer arddangosfeydd. Mae’r rhai heb brintiau wedi ei dynodi unai yn nhestun y catalog neu gan * wedi ei atodi i rif yr eitem.

As far as possible the archival order of this collection as arranged by the photographer has been retained. In some cases this may correspond to the catalogue order: where it does not, the reference number of the box in which the negative is stored is given.
Glass negatives are stored either in glass negative cabinets or, if their archival order differs greatly from their catalogue order, in their original boxes. A note preceding each section of the catalogue indicates whether the negatives are glass and where they are stored.
The protective coverings on the glass negatives frequently have notes indicating the technical processes of the photograph.
A few of the negatives have prints, half-plate size or larger mounted photographs for exhibitions Those without prints have been indicated either in the text of the catalogue or by an * attached to the number of the item.
There are also a few lantern slides. These are indicated in the text of the catalogue.
