ADRAN RUG SECTION
Many of the documents in the Rug section of the Newborough Papers were formerly deposited at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. In the course of re-cataloguing these, and assimilating the many documents not previously available in a public repository into the collection, the number scheme has had to be re-organised. In order to facilitate the identification of documents previously having a National Library number, a schedule of the old and new numbers is appended, and the old N.L.W. number is entered at the end of relevant entries in the catalogue. In order to avoid confusion, the numbers allocated by the Gwynedd Archives Service and now current
should, in references, be preceded by the collection call code XD/2. The collection, again to avoid confusion, is now officially called the Newborough Papers (Rug Section).
