LETTER to JOHN HUGHES from JOSEPH TURNER. Mr. Hughes has sent Mr. Turner the original plans which were drawn up for a new gaol by Mr. Humphreys some 20 years before. Legislation since that time requires Mr. Turner to adopt separate divisions for female prisoners and a sick ward. Before he can draw up plans and estimates he requires a survey of the land on which the gaol is to be built and information on the average number of prisoners held in the gaol.

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
