LETTER: Miss Margaret Williams, "Tanybraich", Victoria Road, Caernarfon, to The Archivist, Caernarfonshire Historical Society, Caernarfon. As the next of kin of her sister Mrs. D.P. Thomas who died in 1970, at her home in "Hilbre’, Victoria Road, she is sending two cartons of documents, connected with Caernarfon, to the Archivist. Her late brother-in-law, David Pritchard Thomas had been the oldest practising solicitor in town. Some of the papers relate to his father, Robert Thomas, who had been a ship’s carpenter, for many years, and later, settled in Caernarfon when he erected terrace houses in Victoria Road and Segontium Road South. He was a very active and formidable deacon at Caersalem Baptist Chapel. He, his wife and son (D.P. Thomas) lived in Castle Square at the People’s Cafe - probably the only cafe in Caernarfon in those days. Among the papers are letters from a Mr. R.D. Pritchard (the brother of Mrs. Robert Thomas Cafe, and uncle of D.P. Thomas) who emigrated to America and built up a successful Slate Business there.

Page Language

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
