LETTER: David Thomas, 20 Percy Circus, Holford Sq., London to his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Thomas, The Cafe, Castle Sq., Caernarfon, acknowledging their letter containing the sad news about Owen Owens, which startled him although he had received a letter from his Uncle Henry telling him how ill Owens was. Mentions the weather in London. He has had a test exam, and has no reason to think he will fail in his proper exams. Writes about Dr. Parker’s text the previous Sunday. He can’t get boiled meat or tongue in London unless he pays 1/6d a lb for it, but he can get brawn for 6d. a lb.. So in future they need only send him tea and butter and occasionally some meat and tongue. He manages to exist on less than 15/- a week. Silk hats and frock coats are all the go in London, but he does not mean to go in for them. He understands his Uncle Henry has been very ill with influenza, but is now better. Asks their opinion about the photograph of the Caernarfon chaps. Sends his regards to friends and family. Attached: PROGRAMME of Dr. Joseph Parker’s with Admission ticket to Dr. Parker’s sermon and Question Paper on Test on Common Law dated June 5, 1895.
