LETTER: David P. Thomas, London, to his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Thomas, Cafe, Castle Sq., Caernarfon, acknowledging letter and parcel, containing tongue. Asks them not to send him any more at present. He can buy good jam for about 5½d. It is midday there when he writes and he has the aid of light to write, as he can’t see a yard before him as the fog is so thick. Davis and Pritchard have gone through with their exams. One young fellow there has been trying to pass for three years and has still failed and a fellow from Bangor who was articled with Hughes & Pritchard, Bangor, has also failed. He will be trying a trial exam at the end of next week on Common Law which is such a wide subject and doesn’t know where to begin on it. He received a letter from his Uncle Henry re Mr. & Mrs. Williams giving up the management. He is sorry to hear that as it would mean his uncle going to sea again, unless Wm. Thomas & Co. have made some arrangements with him. Dr. Clifford’s and Chapel St. Baptist Chapels are several miles away, but he means to visit both before coming home. He notices from the newspaper that Mr. R. Roberts is doing good business. Sends regards to his friends. Attached: PROGRAMME of Dr. J. Parker’s sermon.

Page Language

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
