CYNGOR DOSBARTH GWLEDIG OGWEN
OGWEN RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL

Sefydlwyd Cyngor Dosbarth Gweldig Ogwen yn 1894, a bu mewn bodolaeth hyd 1974.
Roedd plwyfi Llanllechid, Llandygai, Aber a Phentir o fewn dalgylch y Cyngor.
Ymddengys mae y Clerc oedd yn gyfrifol am ran helaeth o weithgareddau a chofnodion y Cyngor, felly cynhwysir rhan fwyaf o’r cofnodion o dan Adran y Clerc.
Fe gynhaliwyd cyfarfodydd Iechyd Porthladd Beaumaris yn swyddfa’r Cyngor, gyda Clerc y Cyngor yn cadw cofnodion yr awdurdod. Gan hynny, ymddengys fod y cofnodion yma wedi eu cadw â gweddill o gofnodion y Cyngor. Trefnwyd y cofnodion yn ôl eu pynciau, gyda’r dyddiau cynharaf i’r diweddaraf ym mhob adran. Gyda enwau lleoedd, defnyddiwyd y dull diweddar o’u sillafu, megis Llandygai yn lle Llandegai, Faenol yn lle Vaynol.
Fe dderbyniwyd y dogfennau hyn i ofal Gwasanaeth Archifau Gwynedd yn 1975.

Ogwen Rural District Council was established in 1894, and remained in existence until 1974.
The parishes of Llanllechid, Llandygai, Aber and Pentir were in the catchment area of the Council.
It appears that the Clerk was responsible for most of the activities and records of the Council, therefore most of the records are placed under the Clerk’s department. The meetings of the Beaumaris Port Health Authority were held in the offices of the Council, and the Council Clerk kept the minutes of this authority. Therefore, it appears that these records were kept with the rest of the Council’s records.
The records were arranged by subject, and then chronologically.
Modern place names were used, for example Llandygai instead of Llandegai, Faenol instead of Vaynol.
These records were deposited in 1975.
