LETTER: W.A. Madocks, Gainsborough to John [Williams]. He and Mr. Sheath of Boston in .....to view 4,000 acres of land reclaimed on the Humber and lately warped. The improvement of warping is most astonishing. Writes to urge the necessity of completing the addition to the house by 28 August. Realises that the bedroom plaster will not be ready for a few days; they must use every means to dry it before the races, which he has postponed until 9, 10 and 11 Sept. the house must be quite clear of workmen by 28 Aug. The workmen must be driven. He and all his Boston friends will arrive on 28 Aug. and during which time he will not have a workman in the house for the world.
