COPY CASE with the opinion of Mr. Macintyre re Caerhun ennclosure award. Gives details re the award of 1858. Most recipients of lands have failed to form roads or fence their allotments as ordered by the act and people still pasture their cattle on the unenclosed allotments. There have even been night bands of men who break down fences and attempt to restore the common to its original state. They have resisted the owners’ atempts to clear stock from their holdings. They claim the enclosures are forfeit because of the owners’ failure to fence them and build roads. They also claim that the rights of people living outside the parish to common was violated by the award.

Page Language

In accord with normal archival practice in Wales, details of documents are presented in the language of the document. Where details appear in Welsh, then Welsh is the language in which the document is written; where they are in English, the document is in English.
