CASE of Maurice Griffith of Methlem, co. Caernarfon, gent. with the opinion of William Williams of Glanrafon. Gives details of a lease of 1738 from Mr. Griffith to Hugh Griffith of Llannor, co. Caernarfon, yeoman, of several houses and lands called Methlem, Natayddon and Glanrhyd in the parish of Aberdaron (with the exception of the garden called Gardd y ffynnon and Winllam, a house near the seashore called Kilkir and Porthor, the lime house, seive, copper, oven, malt mill and malt kiln, with the hall and various storerooms and a field called Park bach and the Lampier ground and all rights of access to those places). Rent: £55 for 7 years, with various covenants re repairing the property, gathering furze, not keeping goats, or sowing small oats, not to sublet without permission. The tenant has sublet without permission, he has destroyed hedges and quicksets, which he was supposed to keep in repair and his rent is in arrears. Opinion is requested on whether the lease is forfeit.
