LETTER: Joseph Lord Of Lawrenny. Thanks Poole for his favour shown to the Rev. Mr. Owen his brother in law. However, he has not heard anything following his application for the living. He supposes some other gentleman has been inducted to the living but thanks Mr. Poole for his kindness. He has moved with his family to Lawrenny because of an outbreak of putrid fever at Pembroke. The epidemic was started by the Culloden man of war and there have been many deaths among the poor. Few people of means have been affected with it. The men from the Culloden allege that they caught the disease from the prisoners the took on board. He hopes none of the prizes taken to Beaumaris [Biwmares] have been afflicted with it. He has heard that the disease is prevalent in the prisons in England for French prisoners of war.
