COPY LETTER: Vicar of Caernarfon to C T Denstone Edwards, Sunny Bank, Saltburn by the Sea, regretting the distress caused by a misconception in the position regarding burial in graves in churchyards. Explains that normally, no person acquires a legal right to a vacant grave space in a churchyard, except by a Faculty. It appears that no Faculty was obtained by CTDE’s father, the late Mr Robert John Thomas [sic]. Neither did the writer have any idea that relations of RJT wished to be buried in the same grave, nor that he was survived by a son. The first he heard of CTDE’s desire was after the last coffin space in the grave was used for the burial of Nerys Thomas.
