CERTIFIED COPY OF WILL (28 June 1806): of Rev. Charles Sampson of Ripley, co. Yorks, devising all his goods chattels and lands in trust to Robert Clarke, esq. of Bath, attorney, and to Bigoe Charles Williams, esq. of Bedford Row, Bloomsbury, London for his wife Mary Ann Sampson for her life, and afterwards to his children: to his eldest son on the condition that he pays to his surviving brothers £50 p.a. or £1000 one year after her death. He leaves the plate to his wife’s use during her life and afterwards to be disposed of as follows viz the tankard, embossed salver, large salver, 2 pair of silver candlesticks and silver pint mug to go to his eldest son Charles, and the remainder to be divided between his 4 sons, Charles, Edgar, Frederick and Lionel. Endorsed: NOTE: that if Will should fall into hands of any person it does not concern, it should be returned to Mrs. Sampson, ?Trewince near St. Mawes, Co. Cornwall.
